The Lite Reader's main batteries, 12 V 8Ah AGM SLA, with F2 Terminal (Duracell DURA 12-8F2), need to be replaced every two years, as well as the Lite Reader's decoder battery. Below are instructions for replacing the Lite Reader's main battery.

1. Open Lite Reader's lid
2. Remove eight black hex screws around exterior of Lite Reader
Note: 5/32" or 4mm Allen Wrench required
3. Remove four phillip screws from corners of control panel
Note: Phillip Screwdriver required
4. Remove Lite Reader from chassis using silver handles
5. Remove white connector from motherboard on side
6. Remove red (positive) and blue (negative) spade connectors from battery terminals
7. Remove eight locknuts on bottom plate
Note: 7mm Wrench or Socket required
8. Lift silver handles separate bottom plate from control panel
9. Remove current batteries from bottom plate
10. Insert new batteries into bottom plate
Note: 12 V 8Ah AGM SLA, with F2 Terminal required
11. Place control panel on bottom plate
12. Insert eight locknuts on bottom plate
Note: 7mm Wrench or Socket required
13. Insert red (positive) and blue (negative) spade connectors into battery terminals
14. Insert white connector into motherboard on side of Lite Reader
15. Place Lite Reader into chassis
16. Insert four phillip screws into corners of control panel
Note: Phillip Screwdriver required
17. Insert eight black hex screws around exterior of Lite Reader
Note: 5/32" or 4mm Allen Wrench required
