For timers using ACTIVE Timing, please use the steps found here instead: ACTIVE Timing - Dual Frequency UID Assignment
For timers using any other scoring software, you can utilize the Tag Scanner software to generate a UID file that can then be imported as needed

  1. Connect your IPICO DF Registration Reader to an open USB port on your computer
  2. Open Tag Scanner
  3. Go to Options > Serial Port
  4. Select the COM number associated with your Registration Reader
    • Note: You may sometimes encounter an error connecting to the COM port. Please ensure that you have selected the correct one (should match what you see in your Windows Device Manager). If this does not work or the COM port is missing, please download and update your UART driver here: https://www.silabs.com/documents/public/software/CP210x_VCP_Windows.zip. Then retry.
  5. Click Start
  6. Enter the first bib number in your series (default is 1)
  7. Pass your first tag over the Registration Reader
    • Note: The reader should beep once, and a unique tag code should appear next to the first bib number. It shoud then automatically increment to the next bib.
    • Note: Because the UID is not printed on each tag, you must ensure that you have a way to match each physical tag to its corresponding bib number. How this is done is left to you as a timer, but some common methods are: sharpie, envelopes, and label printers.
  8. Pass each subsequent tag over the Registration Reader, ensuring that a unique code is assigned each time
    • Note: If you encounter a tag that does not read, set it aside and move to the next tag in your inventory. If this occurs in a new tag order, please report it as soon as possible so that we can correct it for you.
  9. When all tags have been scanned/assigned, click Save
  10. Enter a file name and select the desired save location on your computer
    • Note: By default, these files are saved in the .txt format. If your scoring software uses something else (such as .csv), you will need to manually update this after saving.
  11. Click Save
