Require Team Captain to Pay for All Team Members in Self-Registration Team

In a self-registration team, team captains are only responsible for creating teams and pay for their own entry fee. To achieve the request for A) team captains to pay for the whole team and B) team members to register without making payments, we can set up self-registration team categories with these two steps:
  1. Create two separate price types of team captain and members
  2. Set a price per team for team captain's registration category, and $0 for team member's
Note: This setup requires a known maximum team size

Detailed steps are listed below. We used an example below to demonstrate the setup process in steps and screenshots.

For example, registration category "10KM Running Category - Team Entry" allows self-registration teams. Maximum team size is 5 persons. Its price is $20 per person. Hence, entry fee of a 5 person team is $100.
  1. From Create New Registration Categories (Step 3), click Add a category to create a main registration category
  2. Click Add a price to Create Self-Registration Team Price Type for Team Captain and complete two settings below:
    1. Name it as Team Captain Entry
    2. Set price as total amount of the whole team

    1. Name it as Team Member Entry
    2. Set price as $0

  1. Click Save & continue and proceed to Set Up Self-Registration Teams (Step 4)
  2. Under Team configuration settings, complete following (a screenshot of our example is shown below): 
    1. Check Team members must register for same category as team captain
      • Note: This must be checked when self-registration teams are allowed for multiple registration categories in one event
    2. Set Maximum people per team
      • Note: It will avoid free team member entry from being abused by setting up a maximum team size
    3. Set Up Self-Registration Teams Participation Rules for Team Captain and Team Member categories respectively
    4. Choose Password is required for team registration
      • Note: This will prevent registrants to join other people's teams by mistake
