Prior to field use or testing of equipment, IPICO hardware users should always perform a basic equipment damage assessment, to verify all components are performing optimally.
  1. Examine mats for physical damage
    1. BNC connector(s)
      1. Look for exposed wires at junction of cable and connector
      2. Bent and/or dirty pin (corrosion/dirt)
      3. Bent or cracked coupling nut
    2. Hirschmann connector(s)
      1. Look for exposed wires at junction of cable and connector
      2. Bent and/or dirty pins (corrosion/dirt)
    3. Tail cables
      1. Look for frayed or cut cable insulation (exposed wires)
    4. Masthead connection
      1. Look for exposed wires at junction of cables and masthead
  2. Examine reader(s) for physical damage
    1. BNC Connectors
      1. Look for bent and/or cracked connectors
      2. Dirt and/or corrosion
    2. Hirschmann Connectors
      1. Cracking
      2. Corrosion, dirt/mud
      3. Connector movement (connector should be stationary – little-to-no wiggle)
    3. Delta ports
      1. Dirt and/or corrosion
      2. Cracking or missing components
    4. Transmitter Tune button
      1. Missing/broken
    5. Power ports
      1. Dirt
      2. Missing/loose rivets
    6. Battery Condition Indicator
      1. Loose
      2. No light
    7. Power Switch
      1. Loose
      2. Broken/missing
    8. Chassis
      1. Loose/missing screws
