- Examine mats for physical damage

- Look for exposed wires at junction of cable and connector
- Bent and/or dirty pin (corrosion/dirt)
- Bent or cracked coupling nut

- Tail cables
- Look for frayed or cut cable insulation (exposed wires)
- Masthead connection
- Look for exposed wires at junction of cables and masthead

- Examine reader(s) for physical damage

- Battery Condition Indicator
