IPICO engineers recently detected an issue which affects newer IPICO mats when used in conjunction with the IPICO Mains Power Supply on a Super Elite Reader. While the power supply is in use with the reader, the read height of the mats drop to several inches above the mat, resulting in a greater incidence of tag read misses. At this time, the issue is known to only occur under the aforementioned circumstances. Use of the reader and mat without the Mains Power Supply has been tested to perform optimally.
Affected Models:
To test if this is occurring in a Super Elite Reader, use the following steps.
Affected Models:
- IP2977 – 5m Mat with 10m tail
- IP2976 – 2.5m Mat with 10m tail
To test if this is occurring in a Super Elite Reader, use the following steps.
- Note: Optimal testing conditions are as follows:
- Outdoors
- Preferably on grass, to avoid the metal rebar commonly found in concrete, which can diminish field strength.
- Avoid areas with large power structures.
- When using power generators, keep them as far away as possible from the reader/mats.
- Connect new mat to Super Elite Reader
- Turn reader power on
- Standing in center of mat, hold one shoe tag at about 3 feet high
- Note: The reader should begin to read the tag around 3 feet above the mat under normal circumstances.
- Connect Mains Power Supply to reader
- Re-measure shoe tag read height at center of mat.
- Note: Read height may drop to less than 1 foot above the mat.
