In ACTIVE Timing, you must accurately configure the start and finish points of each race, as well as any split points along the way. Regardless of the Sport Type (Running, Duathlon, Triathlon, etc.), the process for adding reader stations is the same.
  1. In your event, go to Configure Race
  2. On the far-right portion of the window, click the Plus Symbol (+)
  3. Enter Station Name
    • NOTE: This should be named so that you can easily identify which reader's are being used. E.g., if you have a single reader which will be used at the Start and Finish, you might name it something like S/F, or Start/Finish. This name will help to identify where the reader should be placed in your configuration.
  4. Select appropriate IP address from Reader dropdown menu
  5. Click Save
    • NOTE: Event Label is only used for ARC connected readers. If your readers are connected locally (via Ethernet or WiFi), this option will not apply to you.
    • NOTE: Set Primary and Backup Readers is optional, and typically reserved for UHF configurations.
  6. Drag and drop the station into a desired read point (Start, Split, Finish, etc.)
    • NOTE: You may drag and drop the same station to additional read points as often as necessary. New stations are only required when a separate reader will be used at a given read point.
    • NOTE: For races in which no start read is collected by a reader, you should leave the Start race point empty.
  7. To the left of the race configuration blocks, click the Cog Icon (containing the name of each race)
  8. For each split, enter a Distance and Minimum Time
    • NOTE: Minimum Times are cumulative, but Distances are not. I.e., if you have a Start, Split, & Finish, then you will see a minimum time/distance between Start and Split, and another between Split and Finish. If your total time for both splits is going to be 10 minutes, then you might have a Minimum Time of 5 minutes for the Start/Split, and 10 minutes for the Split/Finish. On the other hand, Distances are independent for each split, so in a 5K with a 2.5K split, you would use 2.5 for Start/Split, and 2.5 again for Split/Finish.
  9. Enter Minimum Overall Time
  10. Enter Gap Factor
    • NOTE: This option only appears when a reader (or group of readers) is used at multiple read points within a race. If you have unique readers at each read point, this will not appear for you.
