Introduction

If timing an event with The Race Director, this guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough of the results publishing process to ACTIVE Results. By generating an API token in ACTIVE Results and entering that into The Race Director, you can push results data instantly with no CSV/Excel files to manipulate.

Requirements

  • ACTIVE Passport login
  • ACTIVE API token
  • The Race Director

Step 1 - Choosing an Integration Partner

In The Race Director, open the Tailor > Options menu to link your event with ACTIVE Results using your API token. Visit the Partner Setup tab and select ACTIVE Results as the Integration Partner.

If registrations were taken with ACTIVEWorks, selecting ‘Yes’ will allow The Race Director to connect successfully to the already-created ACTIVEWorks event. Once the ACTIVEWorks event is linked with The Race Director in the next step, results data will sync back to the ACTIVEWorks registration platform.

If registrations were not taken with ACTIVEWorks, selecting ‘No’ will tell The Race Director to create a brand new event in ACTIVE Results. Data will be stored in ACTIVE Results but won’t be synced with any ACTIVEWorks events in the registration platform.

Step 2 - Connect to or create a race in ACTIVE Results

Insert your ACTIVE API token, race city, race state/province (2 characters), and race country (2 characters).

If you collected registrations in ACTIVEWorks and answered yes to that last question, clicking ‘Assign’ will bring up a new dialog box where you can select from a list of events that your API token has access to.

If you did not collect registrations in ACTIVEWorks and answered ‘No’ to that last question, clicking ‘Assign’ will create a new event in ACTIVE Results using the race name in The Race Director along with the city, state/province, and country you just entered.

Once complete you will receive a confirmation message letting you know that you’re ready to proceed:

Step 4 - Publish results

The ‘Publish Live Results’ button can be used to upload from The Race Director to ACTIVE Results.

In your browser, visit https://results.active.com and login using your ACTIVE Passport account. Once logged in, you will see a ‘Manage Results’ link at the top of the page that will display all of the events you have access to.

Scrolling down the page you will notice that you have a unique URL where all of your events are collected. You are able to customize the URL so that participants and spectators can access results from all of your timed events in a single location.

For each event, you can change the public visibility of the event, add/remove an event from your timer page, or delete an event completely. (Note: Events from ACTIVEWorks cannot be deleted)

Clicking on an event title allows you to adjust visibility, see the results URL, perform manual file uploads, and delete existing results.

Scrolling down, you will see the divisions that are uploaded and you can remove the data using the delete icon. Once cleared, you can replace the data with a fresh upload from The Race Director.
