Some registrants may report strange characters in the subject line of emails sent from your organization. These email subject lines begin with something like this: =?UTF-8?Q?...?=. Here are a few quick tips to help you handle support requests and questions from your users about this:

  • We have received reports of this behavior mostly from AOL.com based email addresses. There may be other domains affected.
  • Due to an integration of Apple ID's with AOL from 2005-2010, older Apple ID emails such as mac.com, me.com, and icloud.com may also be affected.
  • Other domains such as Gmail.com, Yahoo.com, Hotmail.com, etc do not appear to be affected.
  • If you receive a report from your end user about this, you should refer them to their email server provider. Active support cannot fix this issue as we do not have access to their email server.
